Chinese president to further consolidate all weather ties
Xi will be accompanied by a large delegation a state visit to Pakistan on April 20-21

ISLAMABAD – China People's Republic President Xi Jinping will undertake a state visit to Pakistan on April 20-21, at the invitation of the president and the prime minister of Pakistan to further consolidate the existing all weather relations between the two countries in all areas of importance, especially political, economic, energy and strategic.

Foreign Office spokesperson Tasnim Aslam while giving the details of the visit said that it would be the Chinese president's first foreign visit this year. She said that the Chinese president will be accompanied by a large delegation, including first lady Madam Peng Liyuan, senior ministers, high-level functionaries of the Communist Party, and senior government officials.

She added that the CEOs from a wide spectrum of business houses of China would also be included in the delegation. During the visit, the spokesperson said that President Xi Jinping will meet President Mamnoon Hussain, who will also host a luncheon in honour of the visiting dignitary. The Chinese president will hold official talks with Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.

The spokesperson said that both the countries would conclude a number of important Agreements and MoUs worth billions of dollars relating to key development projects in the infrastructure, energy, and communication sectors under the ambit of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor. Other important agreements related to other areas, will also be signed on this occasion.

She said that President Xi Jinping will be conferred Pakistan’s highest civil award, the ‘Nishan-e-Pakistan’ at a special investiture ceremony to be held at the Aiwan-e-Sadr. During the visit, she said that President Xi Jinping will also address the joint session of the parliament. Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee and the three services chiefs will also call on the Chinese president during his visit to Islamabad.

Highlighting Pak-China friendship, the spokesperson said that Pakistan and China attach the highest priority to the strategic cooperative partnership between the two countries. She added that exchanges at the highest level are the hallmark of their unique friendship and wide-ranging cooperation.

During the visit, Tasnim said that the two sides will review all aspects of their bilateral relations and also exchange views on regional issues and international developments. The visit would be the most important highlight of the `Pakistan-China Year of Friendly Exchanges,' she added.
