Panama Papers: Aitzaz says Judicial Commission of no use
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader, Aitzaz Ahsan on Tuesday said constitution of a Judicial Commission to probe allegations against Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s family in the wake of Panama leaks will be of no use.
In a statement issued after the PM’s televised address to the nation, Aitzaz Ahsan said a better idea would have been to get a forensic audit conducted.
Earlier, talking to media persons he said Hussain Nawaz publicly admitted to owning offshore companies which should be viewed as a confession to crime.
Aitzaz Ahsan said Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s son Hussain Nawaz went on record to admit he owns offshore companies with an ‘Alhamdullilah’. “This is a confession to crime,” he added.
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Naeemul Hassan termed the PM’s speech as political and was largely based on a family tale.
He said the Premier failed to come up with a satisfactory response over the facts brought forward by the media expose.
Naeemul Hassan said the PM did not make it clear whether the SC judge will be appointed by him or the Chief Justice.
Earlier, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in a televised address to the nation announced to form a Judicial Commission to probe ‘allegations’ being faced by his family members in the wake of Panama Papers leak.
The PM said the one-judge Judicial Commission will be headed by a retired judge of the Supreme Court of Pakistan.
