Shaukat Khanum being targeted to hide Sharif's corruption: Imran

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chairman Imran Khan on Thursday said the ruling party was attacking the Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital (SKMCH) in an attempt to hide corruption of an individual.

Speaking at a press conference before leaving for the National Assembly where he is scheduled to make a speech, Khan said:"Why are they targeting Shaukat Khanum if they have to hide corruption of Nawaz Sharif." The SKMCH is the biggest charity organization of Pakistan that spends Rs3.50 billion annually on patients suffering from cancer.

He said that three million dollars that the SKMCH invested abroad have been brought back and before blaming the hospital the government should have asked about the status of the money.

The PTI chairman said the Pakistan Television (PTV) is run by public money and it should broadcast his speech.

On Wednesday, Information Minister Senator Pervaiz Rashid, State Minister for Privatisation Muhammad Zubair, Minister for CADD Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhry and MNA Danyal Aziz came up with documents during a media conference here regarding Imran’s investments abroad, including Jalalabad in Afghanistan, Oman and Dubai.

It was revealed that the HBG Holdings company was set up in Dubai by Imran and Imtiaz Hyderi and details of it were also available on the Bloomberg website. They charged that Imran was involved in losing the money of the Shaukat Khanum Hospital donors in foreign investment and even an Indian, Jaswant Desai, was part of his offshore company.
