Panama Leaks: Imran Khan threatens to lead march on Raiwind

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chairman Imran Khan on Friday threatened to lead a protest march into Raiwind if transparent inquiry into Panama Papers was not conducted.

Speaking to media, he said he would announce his plan of protest when the PTI marks its foundation day in Islamabad on April 24.

The PTI chairman said an inquiry panel headed by Supreme Court Chief Justice and comprising audit experts should look into the Panama leaks.

“I will go straight to Raiwind instead of D-Chowk this time around, if transparent inquiry is not ensured,” said Khan, also inviting PPP and PMLN workers to join his protest movement.

He said the prime minister should have resigned as he has lost moral standing. The former cricket hero also criticized the cabinet ministers for defending the ruling family. “Prime minister and his family have to respond to allegations themselves in a democratic country. This is not monarchy where darbaris are defending the ruling family,” he said.

“Prime Minister of Iceland was asked by his party to defend himself in the face of allegations, while British Prime Minister David Cameron is also defending himself ,” he said.

He said how come the prime minister and his family stash money abroad when children are dying of malnutrition, women are losing their lives during pregnancies and economic murder of farmers are being carried out.

He said Pakistan foreign debts have exceeded Rs21 trillion from five trillion during the last ten years while the ruling family has stashed billion of rupees in offshore companies. Imran Khan said the PML-N leaders were trying to silent the opposition by calling them corrupt.

“We have declared all assets of Shaukat Khanum, and my assets are also put on website,” the PTI chairman said.

He said ministers were trying to hide corruption of their leader, adding that PTV is not the propaganda cell of the PMLN, and it should have telecast his speech.
