Contacting anyone in London not on PM’s agenda: Nisar

ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister, Chaudhry Nisar on Wednesday clarified that the sole purpose of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s visit to London is to receive a medical treatment and not to contact anyone.

Addressing a press conference, Chaudhry Nisar said the PM was scheduled to visit Turkey but he could not do so due to his ailment.

The Interior Minister described allegations over Panama Leaks as a political move to freeze or oust the incumbent government through undemocratic means.

“The government is ready to conduct probe by any institution of the opposition’s choosing into the allegations based on Panama Leaks,” he said.

He said the issue of Panama Leaks relates to the two sons of Prime Minsiter, adding, Hassan and Hussain Nawaz would themselves respond to the allegations in connection with financial matters.

Chaudhry Nisar said the government contacted senior level judges for conducting a probe into allegations over Panama Leaks. These judges include: Justice Nasirul Mulk, Justice Tassaduq Hussain Jilani, Justice Amirul Mulk Mengal, Justice Sahir Ali Abbasi and Justice Tanveer Khan.

“If the government had any intention to constitute a fake commission, why did it contact such senior level judges in the first place,” he added.

To a question, he assured that the issue of RAW agent, Kulbhushan Yadav will not to be thrown into the backburner.

Responding to another question, the Interior Minsiter said he has held two sessions with FIA over Sarfaraz Merchant’s statements and evidence put forth by him over allegations of money laundering by leaders of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM). A JIT has now been constituted in this regard, he added.
