Kamal urges govt to ban MQM over RAW links
KARACHI: Pak Sarzameen Party (PSP) leader and former city mayor, Syed Mustafa Kamal has urged the government to ban Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) for allegedly having links with the Indian spy agency RAW - Research and Analysis Wing.
Addressing a press conference here Thursday, Kamal said Britain's former deputy head of Mission in Karachi, Shaharyar Khan Niazi has also claimed MQM chief Altaf Hussain’s links with the RAW.
Shaharyar Khan Niazi had claimed that Altaf Hussain voluntarily told the British government that he worked for RAW.
Niazi worked for the British High Commission in Karachi for over a decade but importantly he remained at the heart of the policymaking as far Britain’s dealing with the MQM was concerned during the most crucial period – from 2010 until 2013 – after he was promoted to the position of Deputy Head of Mission.
Former city nazim said, “It has reached limits, a British diplomat is talking on the issue in Pakistan… yet MQM leaders ask for evidences.”
“It’s about time that the state should adopt a clear stance [on the issue]… the government of Pakistan should ban such parties if it has evidences,” he added.
“If these allegations against such leaders and politicians associating with foreign agencies are even 5 per cent correct... if there is proof the government should ban these parties,” he said.
Kamal said Dr Farooq Sattar is an innocent person, he is agent of an Indian agent and it is his job.
