Panama Commission led by Justice Usmani unacceptable: Khursheed Shah

ISLAMABAD: Opposition leader in the National Assembly, Syed Khursheed Shah on Monday said an inquiry commission over Panama Leaks under Justice (retd) Sarmad Jalal Usmani is unacceptable.

“Though Justice Sarmad Jalal Usmani has been a great judge, he maintains political relations with N-League,” Khursheed Shah noted in a media statement.

He called for a Panama Leaks probe through a parliamentary committee headed by a lawmaker from opposition benches.

Khursheed Shah said it is the family of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif that faces major allegations in the wake of Panama Leaks. Thus, the committee must not be led by a representative of the government, he argued.

He said he had proposed Senate Chairman Raza Rabbani’s name for the head of probe panel as he is an uncontroversial figure who enjoys good reputation.
