Govt to take parliamentary parties into confidence over Panama Papers

Finance minister chairs meeting at PM House on Nawaz Sharif’s directives

ISLAMABAD – A high-level meeting of the Pakistan Muslim League-N on Monday decided to take the parliamentary leaders of the political parties into confidence on the formation and other relevant matters vis-à-vis the proposed inquiry commission into the Panama Papers before taking any final decision.

On directives of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, the meeting was held here at the PM House under the chair of Minister for Finance and Economic Affairs Senator Ishaq Dar. The meeting stressed to ensure execution of development projects more swiftly and foil the designs for bringing political instability in the country.

The participants of the meeting also emphasised that efforts for the restoration of law and order, deliverance from energy crisis and the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor and other infrastructural projects should continue with the similar pace. Also, the meeting mulled over some legal points for their onward incorporation into electoral reforms to ensure transparency in the electoral process.

Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, Minister for Information and Broadcasting Senator Pervaiz Rasheed, Minister for Railways Khawaja Saad Rafique, Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif, Minister for Commerce Khurram Dastgir, Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal, Law Minister Zahid Hamid, Federal Minister Abdul Qadir Baloch, Adviser Irfan Siddiqui, Senator Mushahidullah Khan and State Minister for Information Technology Anusha Rehman attended the meeting that discussed the inquiry commission and its mandate.
