Imran Khan rejects PM’s inquiry panel, threatens street protest

ISLAMABAD: Rejecting the inquiry commission announced by the Prime Minister on Friday, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman, Imran Khan rejected the panel, calling for finalizing the commission’s terms of reference (TORs) in consultation with the opposition.

"If the government tried to suppress this issue, I will be left with no other option but to march on Raiwind,” Imran Khan warned while addressing a press conference here on Saturday.

The PTI Chief said he would announce his party’s future course of action on Sunday.

He said there is no reference of tax evasion in the TORs of the new commission.

Terming the TORs of the commission as eyewash, he said these are aimed at hoodwinking the people.

He said Prime Minsiter Nawaz Sharif faces corruption allegations, thus, he has lost the moral authority to rule the country.

Imran Khan said the new inquiry commission announced by the Prime Minister can be rolled back through issuance of a notification. “Whenever Mian sahab would sense any fear, he would go ahead and order discontinuation of the inquiry,” he added.

He said the PM appeared angry at him during the latter’s televised address to the nation.
Imran Khan said it is the Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif who is facing the allegations of corruption and not him (Imran Khan).
