PTI to launch anti-corruption campaign from Sindh

Imran announces a rally in Lahore next Sunday

ISLAMABAD – Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on Sunday announced to launch an anti-corruption campaign from Sindh province on April 26.

“For now we are launching campaign against corruption in Sindh from April 26 and then I will be in Lahore next Sunday to mobilise people there,” he said while addressing a massive rally on the occasion of PTI’s 20th foundation day. “We will not start our campaign from Raiwind but if an independent commission is not formed as per our demand, we will go to Rawindi,” he said.

The PTI chief once again demanded of the government to form a chief justice-led judicial commission to probe Panama Papers. He said that the prime minister has lost all moral authority to rule the country. He asked the prime minister to learn from Iceland, whose prime minister resigned after the Panama revelations.

Responding to the prime minister’s speech, Imran said that the evidences against Nawaz Sharif’s family have already surfaced and that the premier needs to defend charges against him. “Nawaz Sharif, this is in global headlines, Imran Khan has not hatched any conspiracy against you but 150 ‘international journalists’ revealed your offshore holdings,” he added.

The PTI chief expressed grief over the killing of his party leader MPA Soran Singh. “It pains me so much today. When I found out about Soran Singh, our junooni, I was devastated,” he said. “We have to make a promise that we will make our minorities the VIPs,” he said.

Imran lamented that an impression has been created that the entire nation was corrupt. “People of Pakistan are not corrupt, but our ‘leaders’ are. You are a great nation,” he told the participants. Earlier, PTI and the Pak Sarzameen Party (PSP) made a telephonic contact in a bid to decide the timing of their leaders’ speeches in respective rallies held in Islamabad and Karachi.

According to PTI leader Imran Ismail, he contacted PSP leader Raza Haroon to talk about any possible clash of timings of the leaders speeches. He said that the final decision in this regard was taken while keeping in view the momentum of the rallies. The contact comes a few hours before the formal commencement of the two rallies in two different cities but live on some private TV channels.

PTI held a rally at F-9 Park in Islamabad to celebrate 20th foundation day of the party, while PSP staged its first rally at Bagh-e-Jinnah in Karachi.
