Mamnoon calls for state-of-the art techniques for disaster management

RAWALPINDI - President Mamnoon Hussain on Thursday said there is a dire need to provide disaster management institutions with state-of-the art techniques in order to address issues like natural calamities effectively.

While addressing the inauguration ceremony of the Surgeon General’s International Conference 2016, organised by the Army Medical College and Surgeon General Pakistan, the president stated that institutions such as the National Institute of Disaster Management and National Disaster Management Authority are faced with crucial situations that require immediate response to cope with natural occurring accidents.

“It is necessary to arrange regular training programmes for these institutions,” he said. He further emphasized that in today’s contemporary world, it was imperative to utilise and benefit from constructive and efficient techniques that aid in handling emergency situations.

The president asserted that Pakistan was among the countries where natural and unnatural disasters occur more frequently than others. He also appreciated the institutions, who are working effectively in this regard by their immediate and effective response and stated that such institutions have set a good example not only in Pakistan but also abroad. He also lauded the services of Army Medical Corps officers.
