Warrants issued for Altaf, Sattar, other MQM leaders again

KARACHI: An anti-terrorism court again issued non-bailable warrants against Muttahida Qaumi Movement founder Altaf Hussain, Dr Farooq Sattar and others on Saturday while hearing the case of a provocative speech.

The MQM founder faces charges of delivering a provocative speech on August 22 last year wherein he had allegedly uttered anti-country slogans and targeted the security institutions of the country. The other MQM leaders face charges of having acted as facilitators. Mehfooz Yar Khan, Qamar Mansoor, Sathi Ishaq and Amjadullah are also co-accused in the case.

The court, after issuing the warrants, directed the investigation officer to arrest the absconders and produce them on April 7, the next date of hearing. The court will also announce its ruling on the bail pleas of under-detention MQM-London and MQM-P leaders on April 7.
