Liaquat Jatoi meets Imran, joins PTI

ISLAMABAD: Former PML-N leader Liaquat Ali Jatoi, who also served as minister for water and power during the tenure of president Pervez Musharraf, on Thursday announced to join Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) after having a meeting with party Chairman Imran Khan here.

The senior politician from Sindh had a detailed meeting with Imran. "The people of Sindh are tired of the provincial government's corruption and exploitation," Jatoi informed PTI chairman while appreciating his resolve to do away with the politics of status quo and 'muk muka'.

He expressed hope that the PTI would form a government in Sindh and the country in the 2018 general election. "We will not let the people of Sindh suffer further," Imran said during the meeting as he welcomed Jatoi's decision.

"We will save the country from the PML-N and the PPP," Imran Khan added. PTI leaders Jahangir Tareen, Dr Arif Alvi and Dewan Sachal were present during the meeting. A formal announcement regarding Jatoi's decision to join the PTI will be made during a rally at Dadu on April 22, to be organised by Jatoi. Dadu is his hometown.

Jatoi had resigned from basic membership of the PML-N in January 2014, after having developed differences with PML-N leadership. The senior politician has also previously served as the chief minister of Sindh. He is among several politicians, who have served in the ruling PML-N, and now have decided to be part of Imran's PTI.
