PM announces Rs1 billion package for Jacobabad

JACOBABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Friday announced Rs1 billion development package for Jacobabad to provide enormous facilities to the citizens.

“Sindh government has failed to build roads and even provide clean drinking water to the citizens of Jacobabad which is matter of great concern,” he said while addressing a public gathering here.

He flayed Sindh government for depriving people of this city of basic facilities of life.

He said that the people would reject those elements raising hollow slogans and do nothing for them.

He also said before the arrival of PML (N) in Sindh, the province was controlled by dacoits and his government in the 90s launched a massive crackdown to restore law and order. “In 1991 when we came to power we established peace in the villages of Sindh.”

Our first priority after coming to power has always been to restore peace in the country, he maintained.

The prime minister said a vocational center for women would be established and health cards would be distributed in the district to enable the local population access to health care services.

He also announced a passport center for the area people.

He said that the PML (N) government was making hectic efforts to overcome energy crises in the country.

He also announced 100 transformers for Jacobabad and vowed to electrify all villages across Jacobabad district.

He said that PML (N) will win the next general elections on the basis of its performance.

The Prime Minister expressed dismay that no significant development work had been started in the province, particularly in Jacobabad district.

He questioned the provincial government why the people of the district were deprived of the basic needs of life.

He said that Sindh government had disappointed the people of Jacobabad and the political party would not earn votes now by chanting slogans and resorting to empty rhetoric.

He said that heaps of garbage had hit Karachi due to lack of interest of Sindh government to cleanse it, adding disappointed people were looking towards the PML (N) government for solution to their problems.

PM Nawaz also announced health cards and bearing of expenses of a cancer patients.

He said that the PML (N) government had always restored peace in the country including Karachi.

Federal Minister for Railways Khawaja Saad Rafiq, Chairperson Benazir Income Support Programme Marvi Memon, and PML (N) leader Ilahi Bakhsh Soomro were also present on the occasion.
