No room for politics of slogans, sit-ins: PM
* Nawaz says a few thousand cannot derail democracy established in country with the help of millions of people

JEDDAH/ISLAMABAD/ LAHORE: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif says there is no room for politics of slogans and sit-ins in the country. He said this while talking to journalists in Jeddah.
The prime minister said several thousand people could not derail democracy established in the country with the help of millions of people.
He said Pakistan has witnessed many revolutions during the last sixty-five years but now if there is a revolution, it will come only through democracy.
The prime minister said August 14 ceremonies would be held during the night and the national flag be hoisted in the morning.
Nawaz said all serious political and religious parties believe in democracy and are acting responsibly. He said political parties had learnt from the past and now they were endeavouring for stabilising democracy. However, he said the doors for talks were always open in democracies.
The prime minister said the focus of the government was on economic stability.
Separately, in an interview, Nawaz said the government was working to bring the country out of economic crisis and resolve people’s problems.
He urged overseas Pakistanis to play their role in mitigating the sufferings of the internally displaced persons (IDPs) of North Waziristan.
The prime minister said political situation in Balochistan was moving towards stability and complaints of people about their problems had decreased significantly.
He said Imran Khan had accepted election results despite his reservations and now after one-year he was talking about a long march. He said Imran should clarify his agenda behind the long march slogans.
The prime minister said the people of Pakistan voted in favour of democracy in 2013 elections.
Upon his return from Saudi Arabia after performing Umrah, Nawaz Sharif held a meeting with Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif the other day. According to media reports, during the meeting, matters related to country’s political situation, Imran Khan’s Azadi march, IDPs and other issues of national importance were discussed.
Shahbaz also briefed the PM on the measures taken for IDPs and his visit to Bannu and meetings with the victims.
Shahbaz Sharif also told PM that Imran Khan had been extended an invitation for talks but no response had yet been received from him.
