Article 245 imposed to tackle terrorism: Nisar
ISLAMABAD: Emphasising that the imposition of Article 245 had nothing to do with the political process, Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan said the army was deployed in the federal capital to tackle terrorism.
Speaking on the floor of the National Assembly, Nisar said Article 245 had been imposed 24 times since 2007. Nisar stressed that the party and army was consulted and the decision was taken after legal consultation.
The interior minister informed parliamentarians that Article 245 can only be imposed by the federal government. He added that the article was also imposed during the Lal Masjid incident.
