Opposition calls Article 245 mini-martial law
PPI

ISLAMABAD – Opposition Leader in National Assembly Khursheed Shah threatened to protest if Article 245 was not withdrawn in Islamabad, and said that the government has accepted its failure by imposing Article 245 of the constitution.

Showing strong reaction to the enforcement of the Article 245 of the constitution, Shah termed it as mini-martial law which can lead to violation of basic human rights. He demanded of the government to share threats to the capital city with the general public. Speaking in the National Assembly, the opposition leader argued against the imposition of Article 245 by saying that the use of Article 245 shows the governments weakness.

He said that the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) has sacrificed lives of two leaders in the name of democracy. He further informed the House that former president and PPP chief Asif Ali Zardari accepted his mistake of impositing Article 245 in Lahore. "We must learn from our past mistakes," he said.
