People, democratic forces united to defend democracy: ANP

LOWER DIR - Terming the Pakistan Tahrik-e-Insaf (PTI) long march a 'political gimmick', the leader of Awami National Party and former member of Provincial Assembly (MPA), Ayub Khan Wednesday said people and democratic forces were united to support democracy.

Talking to APP here, he said ANP would strongly resist any undemocratic move and will protect democracy at all cost. Referring to PTI's long march, he said in civilised world and democratic system, problems were being addressed through constitutional path.

The former MPA suggested Imran Khan to review his decision on long march and accept the offer of the government for dialogue.

''If Imran Khan had any reservations about results of the last general election, he should approach to appropriate forums and election tribunals for addressal,'' the ANP leader said.

He said ANP would not welcome any unconstitutional step to topple the elected government adding the country was confronted with a number of challenges that could only be addressed through collective efforts and continuity of democratic rule.

The ANP leader suggested Imran Khan to focus on welfare programmes of people, elimination of corruption and good governance in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

He expressed the hope that PTI leadership would fulfill all promises made with electorate in the last general elections in KP and will implement its slogan of change and make KP a model province.
