ET declares PTI candidate’s win from PS-93 null, void

 

KARACHI: Election Tribunal Karachi declared null and void the win of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) candidate Hafeezuddin from Sindh assembly’s constituency PS-93 and pronounced Abdul Razzaq of Jamaat-i-Islami as a legitimate winner.

Head of Election Tribunal Karachi, Justice (retd) Zafar Ahmed Sherwani issued a decision on a complaint in connection with the election result of PS-93.

The JI candidate Abdul Razzaq had challenged the results of seven polling stations and the victory of PTI candidate Hafeezuddin.

Abid Zuberi, the counsel of Abdul Razzaq had adopted the stance before the court during the proceedings that there were discrepancies in the results of presiding officers and those submitted by the returning officers.

During the proceedings, evidence was presented of the change of presiding officers as well as of results.

In the light of the testimonies of the witnesses and evidence, the court declared the victory of PTI’s Hafeezuddin null and void and pronounced JI’s candidate Abdul Razzaq as the legitimate winner.

The court ordered the Election Commission of Pakistan to issue a new notification to this effect.
