Political parties assure PM of support against extra judicial demands

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Thursday held meetings with delegations of different political parties as part of his strategy to cope with the situation emerging in the backdrop of proposed marches of Imran Khan and Dr Tahiurl Qadri.

Delegation of Pakistan People’s Party, Awami National Party and National Party met the prime minister and agreed that every effort to derail the democratic system would be foiled. They, however, said everybody had the right to protest but extra constitutional demands were not acceptable.

Speaking to media after the meeting, NP leader Hasil Bizenjo invited Imran Khan to negotiating table. PPP stalwart Raza Rabbani urged the government to review its decision of laying siege to Dr Qadri’s residence.

Speaking on the occasion, ANP leader Haji Adeel demanded of Imran Khan to hold political dialogue and ensure fulfilling constitutional requirements.
