Over 260 PAT workers arrested in Vehari, Bhakkar alone

 

BHAKKAR: Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) observing Yaum-e-Shuhada by organizing Quran Khawani all across the country, especially in different cities/towns of Punjab, while the main congregation will be held in Lahore on Sunday here, Geo News reported.

Meanwhile, over 260 PAT workers have been arrested at Bhakkar and Vehari alone, while Chanab Bridge on G.T. Road in Gujrat has been blocked frustrating the efforts of PAT workers proceeding to Lahore for the main congregation.

Bhakkar DPO, Shakir Hussain said that 223 PAT workers returning from Khushab were arrested in a crackdown and uniforms, two bulletproof jackets, weapons and other equipments snatched from the police recovered. He said that among the arrested PAT workers those who had torched Quaidabad police station in Khushab were also included.
Vehari police also arrested over 40 PAT workers in a crackdown taking the total arrested in Vehari alone to 100.

On the other hand, Gujrat G. T. Road has again been blocked by placing containers on Chanab Bridge. PAT sit-in on Sargodha-Khushab Road ha been wrapped up after 22 hours after talks with the citizens and the PAT leaders.
