PM Nawaz Sharif to address nation on Tuesday

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif will address the nation on Tuesday to announce the course of action his government would be adopting in the backdrop of highly charged political climate of the country.

The announcement of PM address to the nation came from Irfan Siddiqui, the special assistant of the former.

Earlier, during his address at the launch of Vision 2025 programme, Prime Minister Sharif asked those holding long marches and speaking of revolution as to what the government’s fault was.

The prime minister questioned whose agenda was behind talk of revolution and long marches. “What has the government done that there is talk of toppling it.”

In response to Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) chief Dr Tahirul Qadri’s address from Sunday, Prime Minister Sharif said the government was making development plans while Qadri was spreading anarchy.

“Those who could not win a few hundred votes, how can they be successful in bringing a revolution?”

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif also posed a question to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan as to what change had been brought about in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The prime minister during his address once again invited Imran Khan to resolve issues.

The prime minister stressed that democracy was Pakistan’s salvation and exercising democratic rights was the true revolution. He said those who had dragged Pakistan into the mire of terrorism had to be held accountable as it was because of them that the county had suffered human as well as financial losses.

Prime Minister Sharif vowed to steer Pakistan away from those trying to stall its progress.

The political temperature is on steady rise, as Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan and Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) leader Tahirul Qadri are gearing up to stage their ‘Azadi March’ and ‘revolution march’ respectively on August 14.

Imran Khan’s rally is focused on registering its protest against the alleged rigging in May 11 general elections while Tahirul Qadri wants to change the system through what he calls a ‘public revolution’.

Shaikh Rasheed has put his weight behind both the above demonstrations.
