QUETTA – Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) on Monday expressed anger over the absence of former president Pervez Musharraf in the hearing of Nawab Akbar Bugti murder case and ordered the former ruler and his guarantors to appear in the next hearing.

ATC Judge Nazeer Ahmad Lango was hearing the case. The guarantors, who had ensured the court that Musharraf will be present in the hearing on Monday, were also absent from the hearing on which the court expressed anger. Defence lawyer Zeeshan Janjua presented the photo copy of the medical certificate before the court and pleaded the bench to exempt his client from the hearing.

In his arguments, prosecutor Sohail Ahmad Rajput said that Musharraf was being given a way to flee as the investigation report states that Musharraf was living in his house instead of the hospital. Counsel of former Interior Affairs minister Aftab Ahmad Sherpao told the court that his client could not appear in the hearing as he missed his flight to Quetta whereas former provincial home minister Shoaib Nosherwani was present in the hearing.

The court exempted Musharraf from the hearing for one day and adjourned the proceedings till September 8. The court also ordered the guarantors to appear before the court along with proper medical certificate.
