Imran, Qadri to be responsible if democracy derails: PPP
By Tanveer Ahmed

ISLAMABAD: Leader of opposition in National Assembly Khursheed Shah said on Monday that Imran Khan and Tahirul Qadri will be responsible if democracy is derailed because of their marches. Talking to media in his chamber, Shah accused both Imran and Qadri of taking the country towards anarchy and destruction and vowed that the PPP would resist all such attempts that endanger democracy in Pakistan. He said the future of the country lies in democracy and pointed out that all the political parties had accepted Nawaz Sharif as prime minister of the country. “Now after 15 months, Nawaz Sharif is not being accepted as prime minister!” he exclaimed. About his efforts for mediation, Shah said that his party had done a lot to convince Imran Khan. “Now it is being felt that Imran and Qadri have the same agenda and they are going to repeat the events of 1977,” he noted. The opposition leader said that non-democratic acts of 1977 led the country towards destruction and the implications of those acts are still casting shadows on the country. He said that some people in PTI are apparently using Imran Khan with the ulterior motives and that they would replace Imran. Shah said that it would be senseless on part of all the democratic forces if the country is pushed towards destruction through such acts. He said the PPP would not make any compromise on democracy in the country.
