Governor believes army not want unconstitutional change
Sarwar lauds role of PPP, JI and MQM in ongoing crisis

ISLAMABAD – Punjab Governor Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar has said that the army does not want any unconstitutional change in Pakistan and emphasized that solution of issues through negotiations is in the interest of democracy.
Talking to journalists, the governor said that all the parties have identical agenda except for a few demands. He praised the role of Pakistan people’s Party, Jamaat-e-Islami, Mutahida Qaumi Movement leader Altaf Hussain and the Sindh governor in the ongoing crisis.
In a telephonic conversation, the governor and former Interior Affairs minister Rehman Malik discussed ways and means on how to end the political crisis. Rehman said that negotiations should be held to end the confrontation of the Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) and the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) with the government.
He expressed concerns that delaying the negotiations process will lead to further problems. “Dr Tahirul Qadri and Imran Khan are being given threats. The security of the two leaders should be stepped up,” he said. Sarwar said that the federal government was ready to show flexibility and hold talks within the constitution and law.
Later, the governor took Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif into confidence about the talks with leaders of political parties.
