Terrorists won’t find space to hide: COAS
* Gen Sharif says terrorists are on the run after Operation Zarb-e-Azb * Chief of air staff says cowardly attacks cannot weaken resolve to defend motherland

RAWALPINDI: Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif on Friday said security forces should continue to remain vigilant and soon they would eliminate the scourge of terrorism from the country forever.
ISPR spokesman in a statement said that the COAS praised the valour of security forces, who successfully foiled terrorist bid to attack PAF and Army Aviation Base in Quetta. Gen Raheel Sharif said that after Operation Zarb-e-Azb, terrorists were on the run and making desperate attempts to cause damage to Pakistan. He said their attempts would not bear fruit and they would not find any space to hide in the country. With the backing of the entire nation, the forces would eliminate terrorism from the country forever, he added. The COAS said that security forces should continue to remain vigilant and respond promptly as they have done in Quetta to defeat nefarious designs of the terrorists.
Sharing details about the attack on Samungli and Khalid Army Aviation Base Quetta, ISPR spokesman said that the terrorist attempts to enter both bases were successfully foiled by a prompt action by army, PAF, FC and police at both bases.
Separately, Chief of the Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Tahir Rafique Butt visited PAF Base Samungli.
He was briefed about the sequence of operations against the miscreants by Air Commodore Salman Ahsan Bukhari, Base Commander PAF Base Samungli. The air chief while interacting with officials who directly participated in this operation, commended their courage, valour and spirit to sacrifice for the defence of vital national assets and installations.
Later, the air chief visited CMH Quetta where he met all injured officials who received injuries during the operation. The air chief was accompanied by Commander Southern Command Lt Gen Nasser Khan Janjua and Balochistan FC IG Maj Gen M Ejaz Shahid.
While addressing the troops, the air chief said, “We must understand and realize that we are in a state of war, that too against a hidden enemy. These cowardly attacks cannot weaken our resolve to defend our motherland.” He also said, “All ranks and file of Pakistan Air Force are focused towards the ongoing operation Zarb-e-Azb and are determined to defend every inch of its air bases and infrastructure.”
