Step down in 48 hours, dissolve all assemblies
By Ahmad Ahmadani

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) chief Dr Tahirul Qadri late on Saturday night pressed the federal and provincial governments to step down in 48 hours.
Addressing thousands of charged party workers, he demanded dissolution of the national and provincial assemblies, formation of a national government to undertake immediate democratic reforms, and resignations of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif.
, Qadri presented four demands. The cleric also congratulated the nation for ‘revolution’ which he claimed was not far away.
“Revolution will come through the power of peace and there will be no act of arson,” the PAT chief said, adding, “Marchers will not go back home until the arrest of PM Nawaz Sharif and CM Shahbaz Sharif, and they should be treated as per law over their crime of killing 14 people and injuring 90 people in an incident in Model Town last month.”
He demanded that the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) put the names of the Sharifs and their cabinet members on the Exit Control List (ECL).
“If Nawaz and Shahbaz escaped from the country, they [FIA] will be held accountable,” Dr Qadri asserted.
The PAT chief said he and his workers would not leave until the success of revolution. Qadri also asked for more provinces on administrative basis like Seraiki, Hazara provinces, besides giving provincial status to the areas comprising of FATA, PATA and also asked to give constitutional status to Gilgit Baltistan.
Presenting a charter of demands, the PAT chief said all assemblies should be dissolved, as they were full of tax evaders and defaulters who, according to him, were not eligible to become lawmakers.
The cleric said, “PM Nawaz Sharif and CM Shahbaz Sharif should resign immediately over Model Town tragedy. Parliament and provincial assemblies should be dissolved immediately as they were formed unconstitutionally. A national government should be formed. The national government will hold corrupt individuals accountable. The national government will present a ten-point economic agenda to provide relief to the poor.”
The 10-point economic agenda includes: 1) Ensure provision of home for every homeless; 2) Bread and clothes for needy ones; 3) Employment opportunities for jobless; 4) Health facilities for the poor; 5) Education to every child as well as arrangements for adult literacy, 6) Alleviation of economic exploitation; 7) Tax -free provision of electricity and gas to the poor; 8) Economic empowerment of women through establishment of home industry; 9) End to disparity in salaries of different cadres; 10) Abolition of sectarianism and terrorism.
