Dialogue may start in a day or two: govt
ISLAMABAD/SUKKUR: Railways Minister Saad Rafique on Saturday said that talks would be started with both protesting parties within two to three days.
Talking to a private TV channel, he said that the political situation could be changed with time but issues could be resolved politically by sitting together. He said that a vote recount was not only the PTI’s demand but now it was also the demand of the government. He said that political issues should be resolved politically.
Separately, Leader of the Opposition in National Assembly Khursheed Shah said efforts were being made to force the government to start talks with the protesting parties.
Speaking to reporters, Shah said Imran has called for the resignation of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.
He said that PTI was a political party and believed in supremacy of constitution and parliament.
“This demand will stand unless talks are held,” he opined. “We are pressurizing the government to start negotiations to end the standoff,” he stated.
The opposition leader said that he would meet Jamaat-e-Islami chief Sirajul Haq tomorrow and discuss the issue.
