Democracy can’t afford civil disobedience movement: Zardari
ISLAMABAD: Expressing serious concerns over the current political situation, former president and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari said on Monday that democracy cannot afford any civil disobedience, Geo News reported.
According to a spokesman, Zardari said in a statement that both the political parties should resolve their differences through dialogues and realize their responsibilities. He said that democracy, in any case, cannot endure any civil disobedience movement.
He further said that unconstitutional demands could damage democracy and encouraged Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan to hold dialogues with the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government instead initiating any civil disobedience movement.
On Sunday, Imran Khan announced to launch a civil disobedience movement against the N-League led government in order to compel the incumbent government to step down that he believed was elected through rigged polls.
