ISLAMABAD – A special Anti-Terrorism Court has directed former president Pervez Musharraf to personally appear before the court on the next hearing under any circumstances, otherwise his arrest warrant would be issued.

The directives were issued by ATC judge Attiqur Rehman while hearing the judges' detention case on Friday. The police submitted a reply in the court contending that Musharraf could not be produced before the court in the wake of prevailing political situation in the federal capital.

Prosecutor Aamir Nadeem Tabish said that some eight months ago the Islamabad Police chief had assured that the police would provide security to the former president. “If the situation remains the same, the accused would never appear before the court during his lifetime,” he said.

Dismissing the police reply, the court directed Musharraf to appear before the court at the next hearing, else, it would issue arrest warrant for him canceling his bail. The court adjourned the hearing of the case till September 19.
