Zarb-e-Azb to continue: army chief

*Gen Sharif praises commandos’ role in military operation *Pak-China joint military exercises focus on anti-terror training

RAWALPINDI – Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif has said that the Pakistan Army will continue Zarb-e-Azb military operation in the tribal areas against militants till they are completely eliminated.

According to Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), the army chief expressed these thoughts at the joint exercises of the Pak-China special services troops on Friday in Cherat near Peshawar. The army chief said that the armed forces were determined to flush out the militants with their highly-skilled trained and professional expertise even from remote and hard areas.

General Sharif said that the army would also wipe militants out from their hideouts. He said that there were special relations between Pakistan and Chinese armies and hoped that these exercises would be beneficial in elimination of terrorism. He commended the role of Special Service Group in the success of ongoing Zarb-e-Azb operation.

The three weeks long joint military training exercise Warrior-2014 focused on the joint anti-terrorism training of the special operation forces of Pakistan and China which included airdropping and heli-lifting of the special forces, search and rescue and assault on militants’ strongholds.

General Sharif congratulated participants of both the armies for successful completion of their joint training exercise and appreciated their high state of morale, courage and professionalism.
