Court rejects bail plea of Rauf Siddiqui, Anis Qaimkhani

KARACHI: An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Karachi on Wednesday rejected bail plea of Muttahida Qaumi Movement leader Rauf Siddiqui and Pak Sarzameen Party (PSP) leader Anis Qaimkhani in a case pertaining to providing medical facilities to terrorists.

Dr. Asim Hussain, Waseem Akhtar, Rauf Siddiqui, Qadir Patel, Anis Qaimkhani and Usman Muazzam were presented before the ATC, hearing the case today.

During the hearing, the court rejected bail plea of Rauf Siddiqui and Anis Qaimkhani. Both had filed plea after their interim bail was dismissed.

It is also pertinent to mention here that Dr. Asim’s bail had already been rejected in this case.

During the proceedings, Rangers’ counsel hailed the verdict, saying the court made decision on merit.

The law officer expected the charge would be framed against the accused on next hearing.

He added that accused Saleem Shehzad is absconder and he should be excluded from the case on next hearing.

Rangers’ officer went on to say the accused were trying to politicize the court verdict.

The court adjourned the hearing till August 20 and summoned documents related to providing ‘B’ class to Qadir Patel.
