High-level meeting focuses on border management, internal security

ISLAMABAD: Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif presided over a high-level meeting on Monday in which important decisions pertaining to border management and internal security were taken.

Sources disclosed that it had been decided during the meeting to form 29 wings of a Civil Armed Forces for border management and internal security. The meeting also focused on the general law and order situation of the country. Also it was decided to make Naseer Khan Janjua, the Adviser to the Prime Minister on National Security, the head of the Monitoring Task Force formed to ensure implementation on the National Action Plan.

The Interior Secretary, DG NACTA and Chief Secretaries will also be part of the Monitoring Task Force. All Home Secretaries and the four IGs will also be part of the Monitoring Task Force.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif presided over an important meeting related to security matters on Monday with the country's civil and military leadership.

Sources disclosed that the participants of the meeting included DG ISI Lt. General Rizwan Akhtar, Adviser to the Prime Minister on National Security Naseer Janjua, Federal Minister for Finance Ishaq Dar, Adviser to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz and Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan.

During the meeting, issues pertaining to the national security situation of the country were discussed at great length. This is the third high-level meeting which has been presided by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and related to security. Last week, the Prime Minister chaired two meetings pertaining to the implementation on the National Action Plan with the country's top-level civil and military leadership.

The meeting comes after one whole week of the deadly Quetta Civil Hospital bombing which killed more than seventy people and injured scores of others.
