Yasin Malik's wife denounces Indian atrocities

ISLAMABAD: Mishal Malik, wife of Kashmiri separatist leader Yasin Malik, denounced Indian atrocities in occupied Kashmir on Monday and urged the global community to take note of human rights violations in the Indian-held territory.

Mishal Malik said that the worst form of injustice was taking place in occupied Kashmir as Indian security forces were subjecting innocent civilians to torture and killings. She questioned India's Independence Day celebrations when it was denying the same right to another nation.

"How can India celebrate Independence Day after suppressing the freedom of another nation?" she asked. "As a mark of protest, Kashmiris are marking India's Independence Day as a Black Day," she added.

Mishal said that India, who claimed to be a democratic country, should stop acting unjustly towards Kashmiris and subjecting them to torture. She urged the international community to take notice of the atrocities being committed by the Indian forces on the people of Kashmir.

Mishal Malik said that Kashmiris would continue their struggle for their right to self-determination.
