MQM has Karachi's mandate, ban not acceptable: Firdous Ashiq Awan

LONDON: Former federal minister Firdous Ashiq Awan said on Monday that MQM held the mandate of Karachi and that a ban on the party would not be acceptable.

Addressing a press conference in London, she however also stated that an example will be made out of the British citizen by bringing him to book with the laws of Pakistan. She also commented on the issue of the terms of reference for the judicial commission. Awan said that if the terms of reference were not finalzied in the next couple of days, then the opposition would part ways with the government and then, PPP would soon start a protest movement.

She also said that in the next couple of days, PPP would contact all opposition parties to discuss a strategy for a protest movement. Firdous Ashiq Awan said that if Pakistan Peoples Party did not learn from its mistakes, then an example would be made out of it too.

She also said that PPP's co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari has no two opinions on MQM chief Altaf Hussan being a traitor.
