PTI files contempt of court petition against Saad in SC

ISLAMABAD: A petition seeking the initiation of contempt proceedings against Federal Minister for Railways Khawaja Saad Rafique over scandalising higher judiciary and judges after the disqualification of Nawaz Sharif has been filed before the Supreme Court.

The petition has been filed by former president of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) in Lahore Awais Younis. The complainant has demanded legal action and punishment for Saad Rafique over contempt of court.

“After Nawaz Sharif’s disqualification by Supreme Court, Saad Rafique not only targeted judiciary in his press conference but also blamed judges for involvement in conspiracy against Nawaz Sharif,” the petition states.

It maintains that proceeding should be initiated against the minister as he said that ‘those judges taking oath under PCO have also not remained ‘Sadiq’ and ‘Amin’.”
