Lahore: Pakistan Cricket Board's (PCB) new chairman Najam Sethi has vowed to bring international cricket back to Pakistan. Though, he has also urged the public to remain patient as the mission may take sometime because of the prevailing security situation in the country.

Speaking to the media after his election as PCB chairman on Wednesday, Sethi said he hoped that the World XI's tour to Pakistani scheduled for the next month would pave the way for return of international cricket.

Meanwhile, prominent public figures particularly sports journalists took to Twitter to congratulate the new PCB chief. Twitter users expressed the hope that given his efforts in making Pakistan Super League (PSL) a success, domestic cricket would also see an improvement under Sethi's chairmanship.

Renowned columnist Nadeem Farooq Paracha? tweeted, "Congratulations @najamsethi for being elected Chairman PCB.

Former Punjab governor Salmaan Taseer's son Shahbaz Taseer humorously pointed out that ex-cricketers Waseem Akram and Shoaib Akhtar were now on TV while former anchor Najam Sethi would be heading the cricket board. Taseer tweeted, "Wasim Akram and Shoib Akhtar are tv presenters while Najam Sethi is now the chairman of PCB."
