Azadi Train commences nationwide journey

ISLAMABAD: Azadi Train kicked-off its 14-day long journey from Margalla Station on Saturday in celebration of 70th Independence Day of Pakistan.

The train consists of various arts galleries portraying rich culture of the country. Depicitions of sacrifices of armed forces, Pakistan Movement can also be seen and also exhibitions of various weapons used by and produced in Pakistan.

According to the schedule forwarded by Railways Ministry, the train will arrive at Peshawar Cantonment later today. Then, it will depart from Peshawar for Rawalpindi at 10:30 in the morning on August 13 arriving at 7:15 in the evening.

The train will leave Rawalpindi for Lahore on August 15 at 9:15 in the morning and is expected to arrive in Punjab’s provincial capital at 10:00 in the night.

The train is also expected to pass through Multan, Sukkur, Sibbi, Quetta, Karachi, Hyderabad and Nawabshah.

Prominent artists from the country are also part of the journey and will entertain the crowd with their performances on various stoppages.
