Gen Sharif, John Kerry discuss regional security

WASHINGTON - Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif met with United States Secretary of State John Kerry on Sunday and discussed bilateral security relations and regional issues.

During the meeting held at the State Department, General Sharif presented Pakistan’s perspective on regional security issues. According to ISPR Director General Major General Asim Bajwa, Kerry acknowledged Pakistan’s role in combating terror and the sacrifices Pakistan has made in the ongoing fight. In a tweet on social networking service twitter, Bajwa wrote that Kerry also praised Pakistan Army’s professionalism and termed it as a truly binding force.

The top American diplomat also welcomed progress in improving Pakistan-Afghanistan relations as a step towards regional stability and assured full US support in this regard, according to tweeted details.
