Govt withdrew from talks after PAT ended sit-in, says Imran

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on Wednesday claimed the government withdrew from talks after the packing up of the sit-in by Dr. Tahirul Qadri. However, he said if the government was serious, his party was also ready for talks.
Imran retorted that Plan C would stand until the proposed Judicial Commission started investigation into the rigging in last year’s election.
“Plan C will not stop and the agitation will continue unless our demands are met. No one should misunderstand us,” he asserted.
“The country is in a bad shape, while the rulers often stay abroad. I don’t know why the rulers assemble in Dubai and London and that too on the tax-payers’ money,” he asserted while speaking to his supporters here at the PTI’s sit-in at the Parade Ground.
He alleged billions were to be pocketed in the LNG contract and asked why the Punjab chief minister took along some federal ministers with him during his Kuwait visit. He claimed corruption had decreased because of their fear.
Imran again asked Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to stop defaming the military and reminded him of being the product of the army.
“While the army is engaged in an operation in Waziristan, why the rulers continuously going abroad? May be because, there is no shop like Harrods or good restaurants here for them to shop and enjoy,” he charged.
PTI chief reminded Nawaz that they were not inviting the army through their on-going campaign but wanted justice with regards to electoral rigging against which they had evidence that would be produced before the Judicial Commission.
He said like Asif Ali Zardari, who spent most of his time visiting other countries when he was president, Nawaz was also at times coming on a Pakistan visit while staying abroad most of the time.
About the heart-stopping incident of alleged police high-handedness of the blind persons, agitating for jobs, Imran said he was pained to learn about the incident and alleged the rulers were using the police to harass people from demanding their rights.
“The rulers did not even spare the blind people,” he regretted, alleging Sharif brothers even today had no idea about what was democracy.
“The blind people are part of our society and were demanding their rights on roads but were subjected to the police action. Here FIR is not registered even against those, who resort to direct firing on innocent people. No action was taken against those having been involved in Model Town incident,” he pointed out.
However, Imran lamented that legal proceedings were initiated against him, Shah Mehmood Qureshi and Pervaiz Khattak.
He again said that for some gains, people would have to sacrifice and apologised in advance to people for his planned agitation in major cities and then paralysing whole of Pakistan on December 18.
The PTI chairman ruled out possibility of going away from the sit-in, alleging if he did so, the government would again backtrack from talks.Meanwhile, PTI MNA Ghulam Sarwar Khan and Dr. Amir Zaman at a news conference here at the party’s Central Secretariat strongly condemned keeping away of their party from the consultation for appointment of Chief Election Commissioner in Gilgit Baltistan.
They called for inclusion of PTI in the ongoing process and also in the discussions on installation of a caretaker government in Gilgit Baltistan.
It was alleged that like in other provinces, PML-N and PPP was doing politics of a deal, keeping other parties outside the decision-making process with regards to Gilgit Baltistan.
The PTI leaders demanded regularisation of services of the 1500 recruited schoolteachers in the region.
