Next polls will be free, fair, hopes Punjab governor

LAHORE – Punjab Governor Chaudhry Sarwar expressed the hope that next general elections would be free and fair.
Speaking to media persons after opening furniture exhibition in Lahore on Friday, he welcomed the appointment of Justice Sardar Raza Khan as Chief Election Commissioner (CEC). “Our best wishes are with the new election commissioner,” he said, adding that finally there is someone who is trusted by all.
In a separate development, Sardar Raza Khan stepped down as Chief Justice of Federal Shariat Court and sent his resignation to President Mamnoon Hussain for approval. According to sources, the Presidency has received Khan’s resignation.
