CM asks police to change its attitude towards common man

LAHORE – Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has asked the police to change its attitude and dealing with the public in order to provide them quick justice.

The chief minister was presiding over a high level meeting here on Friday during which reforms in police system and change of working conditions at police stations were discussed. The meeting discussed a number of proposals to deal with the people at police in a friendly atmosphere and provide them quick justice.

He said that for the registration of complaints of the people, computerized record management system was essential. He said forensic Labs would be established nine divisions. He said that the government was committed to address the complaints of the people towards police which must act in a friendly manner with the complainants instead of creating problems for them.

Shahbaz said that the people were shy of visiting police stations to get their complaints registered because they knew that they would be asked embarrassing questions. He said that citizen’s feedback communication system could play an effective role to increase the capabilities of police force in line with the modern day requirements.

He asked the cabinet committee to come up with practical recommendations for police reforms and improvement in working conditions of police stations. Lahore CCPO gave a detailed briefing for the prevention of crimes and attending people's problems on priority basis.
