PM, Imran exchanged pleasantries

PESHAWAR – Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on Wednesday exchanged pleasantries in lighter vein at a press briefing held here at Governor House while sitting side by side.

The prime minister in reply to a question in a pleasant mood said, “had he been not visiting the injured of school shootout, he would have gone straight to the container with Imran.” The witty remarks of the prime minister about Imran spread smile on the faces of the national leadership and journalists' community who had come here from across Pakistan.

At the end of the press conference, the PTI chairman shook hands with Nawaz with a smile on his face and conveyed firm resolve of Pakistan's leadership to wipe out terrorism from the country. As the prime minister entered the Jirga Hall of the Governor House, he immediately removed the high-back chair placed for him to address the press conference and sat on the chair kept alongside.

All the national leadership including the PTI chairman stood in respect of the Nawaz when he entered the hall to address the journalists regarding the APC meeting. He expressed gratitude to national leadership in general and Imran in particular for reposing confidence in his leadership on the issue of terrorism for which the national leadership held a marathon meeting at governor house, spanning over two sessions.

The APC that lasted for almost five hours was attended by federal Information minister Pervaiz Rashid, federal SAFRON Minister Abdul Qadir Baloch, all the four chief ministers, Shahbaz Sharif, Abdul Malik Baloch, Syed Qaim Ali Shah and Pervaiz Khattak, federal interior minister Chudhry Nisar Ali Khan and federal finance minister Ishaq Dar.

The other political leadership who attended the press briefing included Azad Jammu Kashmir Prime Minister Chaudhry Abdul Majeed, leader of opposition in the National Assembly Syed Khursheed Shah, former prime minister Raja Pervaiz Ashraf, Pakistan People’s Party leader Sherin Rehman, Pakistan Muslim League-N leaders Raja Zafarul Haq, Iqbal Zafar Jhagra, Pir Sabir Shah, Awami National Party President Asfandyar Wali Khan, Secretary General Abdul Ghafoor Haidri, Qaumi Watan Party President Aftab Sherpao, PTI leaders Jehangir Tarin and Shah Mehmood Qureshi and Balochistan National Party head Mir Hasil Bazinjo.
