Not sure about PPP rally but Zardari’s dance was good: Imran

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on Thursday said he can’t say much about the Pakistan People’s Party’s rally, however, the dance performance of Asif Ali Zardari was good. He said PTI would be on roads along with the Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) for justice with regard to the killing of innocent people in Model Town.
Talking to media persons after appearing before the anti-terrorism court (ATC), Imran Khan said they wanted to assure the PAT supremo Dr Tahirul Qadri that if he opted for street protests, the PTI would be side by side with him.
Dr Qadri has already alerted his party to keep his container ready: needless to say, a clear indication of his intention to taking to streets, if the victims of Model Town tragedy are not given justice.
On this occasion, he reiterated his demand for immediate resignation of Punjab Chief Minister Mian Shahbaz Sharif and Law Minister Rana Sanaullah, calling for their apprehension for their alleged role in the Model Town tragedy. He lamented that bullets were sprayed on innocent people, including two women.
About the PTI’s sit-in in 2014, Imran maintained that it was a peaceful political protest for free and transparent elections but cases of terrorism were framed against him. “This can be done by only those, who were nurtured by dictators,” he contended.
Asked for his comment on the United States’ decision to shift its embassy to Jerusalem, the PTI chief strongly condemned the step taken by Trump and asserted that he did not consider Muslims even human beings. He emphasised the Muslim leaders should rise against this development.
The PTI chairman advised Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, whom he called a puppet premier, to take a stand akin to the one already taken by Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on this matter.
Meanwhile, Imran telephoned Dr Qadri to express solidarity and assured complete cooperation to him. Both agreed that to chalk out a mutual strategy in this connection, the senior leadership of both sides would meet shortly.
In 2014, the PTI and PAT had launched a movement from Lahore to Islamabad, mainly against alleged rigging in 2013 elections and killings of PAT workers, and here they had staged a sit-in, which Dr Qadri packed up early, while Imran continued his protest for 126 days and ended it only after the massacre at Army Public School in Peshawar.
In a video message, Imran said his party was organising a convention for merger of Fata with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He noted that during the convention, the line of action following the merger would be spelt out. Imran said those opposing the merger were doing injustice to the people of the tribal areas.
Meanwhile, Imran Khan alleged that the PML-N attacked Pakistan’s judiciary for the second time and today (Thursday) it was to protect the money that amounted more than Rs30 billion Sharifs’ looted and stashed abroad.
“Now we know the drama of Darbari Ahsan Iqbal over the Rangers' presence in NAB court. The intention behind was to leave the NAB judge unprotected and influence the court proceedings,” said Imran in messages on social media.
The PTI chief alleged that the PML-N is hell-bent on destroying all state institutions. He stated that Thursday’s drama outside the accountability court was an attempt to impede fair accountability.
He stated that the destruction of state institutions means disintegration of the state. He said people of Pakistan must be prepared to stand up and defend the state institutions. The nation, he said, must counter Sharifs’ agenda.
