Babar Ghouri,Shamim Siddiqui, Amber Khan resign from MQM-London

KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leaders Babar Ghouri Shamim Siddiqui and Amber Khan have resigned from the party citing personal reasons.

Geo TV reported on Sunday morning that former federal minister for Port and Shipping Babar Ghouri has called his decision to quit the party purely personal, and said he is not joining any other group or party for now.

He said he developed differences with the party after his "Pakistan Zindabad" tweet.

When asked whether he is leaving the MQM-Pakistan or the MQM-London, he said "there is only one MQM that is in London". He said he has never been part of MQM-Pakistan .

Ghauri said a successful merger of MQM-P and Pak Sarzameen party would be a welcome move.

Ghauri called for unity among the different political groups in order to resolve the issues facing Muhajir community.

Hours later, former federal minister Shamim Siddiqui also told Geo News he is leaving the party.

The former minister criticized Altaf Hussain's August 22 speech and MQM-London's anti-state activities after announcing his decision to quit the party.

Both the former ministers are said to have sent their resignations to the party leadership in London.

Later on, former sports minister for sports and culture Amber Khan told Geo News that she has also resigned from the party and sent her resignation to party leadership.

She said there was no difference between MQM-Pakistan and MQM-London.
