Pakistan to submit reply regarding Kulbhushan Jadhav case to ICJ today

Pakistan is likely to submit its reply regarding the case of Indian spy Kulbhushan Jadhav to the International Court of Justice (ICJ) on Wednesday, sources stated.

Foreign Office’s Director India, Fariha Bugti would be submitting a draft of Pakistan’s reply to the ICJ today.

The final draft reply was reportedly prepared by several high profile legal experts including the attorney general, officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Pakistan’s legal team that is involved in the case.

The above mentioned document contains details about Jadhav’s involvement in espionage activities inside the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, his trial and sentencing.

Indian Navy officer Commander Kulbhushan Jadhav was working for the Indian spy agency namely Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) and he was taken into custody from somewhere in Balochistan on March 3,2016 after he had entered Pakistan via Iran.

Sources added that the the draft reply contains the charge-sheet against Jadhav and also clarifies Pakistan’s stance in a detailed manner.

He was given a death sentence by Field General Court Marshal (FGCM) on April 10, following a trial for his involvement in espionage and sabotage activities on behest of India.

Indo-Pak relations grew tense over the matter and Indian authorities referred the case hearing to the ICJ.

UN’s top court on May 18 ordered Pakistan to stop all proceedings regarding the execution of Kulbhushan Jadhav until a final verdict was given on the issue.

Indian authorities had asked to court to give a six-month period to file pleading regarding the Jadhav case, the court responded by denying the suggestion back in June.

India submitted its arguments and objection to the international court on September 13 meanwhile Pakistan had been given the deadline of December 13 for submitting its counter-pleading regarding the case.
