Khawaja Asif meets British counterpart

ISLAMABAD – Federal Minister for Defence, Water and Power Khawaja Mohammad Asif on Saturday called on British Defence Minister Philipp Dunne in Munich on side lines of the 51st Munich Security Conference. According to a press release, both the ministers exchanged views on the bilateral defence relations between the two countries and the military action being taken by the Pakistan military against terrorists. He appraised the British defence minister about the latest status of military action against terrorists along the western border of Pakistan with Afghanistan and said that the army was currently engaged in a full scale military operation to defeat and clear terrorists from the tribal areas. Out of seven tribal agencies that came under military operation, six have been cleared of all traces of terrorists and the last tribal agency was under active military operation, he added and expressed hope that the military would complete its operation soon. The British defence minister appreciated government of Pakistan's efforts to make the country free of terrorism and assured all support and cooperation of his country to bring peace and stability in the region.
