CJ assails Sindh, Punjab govts over delay in local bodies polls

ISLAMABAD: Lashing out at Sindh and Punjab governments over the delay in holding local government elections, Chief Justice Nasirul Mulk on Thursday summoned provincial chief secretaries of the two provinces to appear on February 26. While hearing the case pertaining to the local government polls, he observed that the two provincial governments were apparently trying to avoid holding the elections. The chief justice summoned chief secretaries of the two provinces over non-implementation of delimitation of constituencies in the next hearing. Justice Nasirul Mulk expressed his dissatisfaction over reports submitted before the court in this regard. He observed the way things were currently moving, the two provincial governments would not be able to hold the local government elections even in November next year. Both the provincial governments were expected to hold the local bodies polls by the end of 2015. The three-member SC bench later adjourned the hearing till February 26.
