Local bodies election need of hour: Asif

SIALKOT – Federal Minister for Water and Power and Defence Khawaja Asif on Saturday said that it was need of the hour to hold local bodies election in order to resolve problems of people at grassroots level. Addressing a ceremony held under the auspices of Tehsil Municipal Administration (TMA) employees Ittifaq Labour Union at Sialkot Fort, he said that election of local bodies in Punjab was political need and utmost demand of the people. He said that he did not know what process of local bodies election had reached, but it was the need of hour to hold local bodies election. The minister said that representatives of local bodies could resolve problems of people like cleanliness, sewerage at grassroots level. He said that Sialkot was being developed but he expressed displeasure over the sanitation condition and sewerage system. He directed the administration of Gulshan-e-Iqbal Park to ensure maintenance of the park in a befitting manner. He congratulated the elected members of Ittifaq Labour Union and pledged to resolve their problems at the earliest. Pakistan Muslim League-N MPA Chaudhry Muhammad Akraam, TMA Ittefaq Labour Union Chairman Sohail Butt and other PML-N local leadership were present on the occasion.
