Use any means to curb horse-trading in upcoming Senate elections: PM

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif directed all concerned authorities on Monday to curb horse-trading in the upcoming Senate elections. The PM was chairing a cabinet meeting in Islamabad to review all issues including law and order situation in the country. During the meeting, PM Nawaz expressed his anger at the issue of horse-trading and said that any use of means including taking support of constitutional amendments should be applied. According to sources, he has also directed for a legal committee to be formed to curb horse-trading. The committee is to present constitutional and legislative proposals to the PM within the next few days. On February 16, Federal Information Minister Pervaiz Rashid said that all political parties of the country were united against horse-trading. Speaking on the issue of electricity in the country, the PM went on to say that ending load-shedding was the government’s top priority. He also ordered for all Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) projects in the country to be completed immediately. Today’s cabinet meeting will also discuss the Pak-China Economic Corridor project. A report regarding the implementation of the National Action Plan (NAP) as well as Operation Zarb-e-Azb will also be presented.
